UCSF Campus Telephone System (Prefixes: 476-, 502-, 514-, 597-)

Information Technology Services / Enterprise Network Services ( 1855 Folsom St., Suite 601, Box 0707 ) maintains the campus voice communications system.

ITS Customer Support (ITSCS) provides customer support for the Campus telephone system. Contact ITSCS for campus repair service or voice mail assistance via help.ucsf.edu, email at cls@its.ucsf.edu or by phone at 514-4100, option 2. Business hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., excluding University holidays.

UCSF Medical Center/Mt. Zion Telephone System (Prefixes: 353-, 885-)

Information Technology Telecommunications (250 Executive Park Blvd., Suite 1000, Box 1310) maintains the UCSF Medical Center voice communications system. IT Telecommunications provides operator services for the Medical Center and the Campus.

Contact IT Telecommunications Customer Service Center at 514-4100, option 1, regarding the Medical Center telephone system or for information about telephone extension features. The Customer Service Center, Repair department and Operator Services are staffed 24/7/365.


Telephone Access for the Deaf, Hard of Heading, And Speech Disabled

California Relay Service provides full telephone accessibility for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech disabled. Specially trained Communication Assistants complete calls and stay on-line to relay messages electronically over a TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) text telephone. The service is available 24/7/365 at 1-800-735-2929 for individuals with a TDD, and at 1-800-735-2922, for those without a TDD.

Dialing Instructions

Save your department money: Medical Center and Campus telephone systems are tied together to permit internal calls between the two systems. Always dial between Campus and Medical Center telephones using the numbers in bold. Dialing on the 'Tie line' between the systems is cheaper and faster than dialing an outside call.

The Medical Center provides a conference call service that accommodates a maximum of 14 parties. Contact Medical Center IT Telecommunications Customer Service Center for additional information at 514-4100, option 1.

Personal Calls

The use of University equipment for personal calls is governed by the provisions of the University of California Electronic Communications Policy which states in part:

University users of a University electronic communications facility or service may use that facility or service for incidental personal purposes provided that such use does not: (i) directly or indirectly interfere with the University's operation of electronic communications resources; (ii) interfere with the user's employment or other obligations to the University, or (iii) burden the University with noticeable incremental costs.

Departmental implementation of these guidelines may require reimbursement to the University for noticeable incremental costs as defined by departmental policy. Please contact your administrative manager for detailed information about your department's procedures.

Billing

Campus and Medical Center Telecommunications recharge departments monthly for telephone use. Departments are responsible for reconciling their statements each month. Claims against your monthly recharge bill must be made within 30 days of receipt. Billing adjustments are retroactive for a period not to exceed 90 days.

UCSF Directory: Access current UCSF directory information at this website. Faculty and staff listings at this site are updated nightly. Other UCSF directory sections are updated as changes occur. ITS Customer Support no longer publishes/distributes the printed UCSF Campus directory. The last printing of this directory was 2001.

UC Systemwide Directory: Access current directory information for the UC Office of the President and for other UC campuses and laboratories via the link at directory.ucsf.edu. . UC Office of the President no longer publishes the UC Systemwide Directory. The last printing of this directory was FY 2003-2004.


AT& T San Francisco White and Yellow Pages Directory: ITS Customer Support distributes San Francisco telephone directories through departmental business managers once a year. Distribution and order information are available at http://directory.ucsf.edu/att_orders.jsp. Directories for areas other than San Francisco are available for a fee and may be ordered via the same website.
